It’s a favorite junk food of mine. There is something about the crispy crunchy salty goodness that I enjoy. So I fully expected to enjoy the new line of snacks from Pogos made by Medora Snacks. My family tried all three flavors of the natural potato cheese sticks and we each had a different taste.

I found the hickory and jalapeño cheese to be not appealing, but loved the white cheddar. My husband liked the hot jalapeño snacks. Our 6 year old son would only eat the hickory flavor stating they tasted like BBQ chips. I guess we each found a flavor we liked, but none of us were immediately in love.

We were very excited to get the chance to try the Pogos natural potato cheese sticks. At first I was a little reluctant I will admit, all natural kind of gives me the idea of no flavor, no fun and not very good. I was proved wrong though because the Pogo snacks are very flavorful and very yummy.

We ate our favorite bag, the Hickory smoked, in one sitting. They have a very different little munch. It’s crunchy, but not too crunchy. There is a neat little design and you don’t get all this flavoring on your fingers. We loved them and the fact they are all natural is just an added bonus.

The makers of Pogos want to “bring to the world wholesome, great tasting snacks made from the very best, all-natural ingredients.” You can’t fault them for that. It would be a welcome addition to the millions of health concious people. My family recently received a bag of each of the three flavors of Pogos; hickory, white cheddar and jalapeno cheese.

I’d love to say that they were an instant hit, but that’s not quite true. At first, we were a bit hesitant of the texture and appearance of Pogos. They look like airy, white zig-zag chips and to a family that used to dense, orange, cheesy triangles, this was quite a change.

The aromas are strong, almost to the point of overwhelming when you open the bag. After a tentative beginning, we dug in and tried them all. After tasting them, there were mixed reviews around the table. Out of 4 adults and 5 kids, without a doubt the person who liked them best was my two year old grandchild. Everyone else found them to have a strange aftertaste and unlike most bags of chips in our house, these remain uneaten.

I wanted to like these chips, but my family just didn’t. The idea of a healthy snack alternative is fabulous, but we won’t be rushing out to buy Pogos.

by Perri

A few weeks ago I received some chips to review called Pogos. I was pretty dang excited about them as they offered a healthier option to regular potato chips. They are all natural with no trans-fats, so I was hoping to make a better snacking option out of them. However, though they sent a variety to try, I didn’t like any of them. Neither did any other adult that tried them. The flavors were a little funky and in the case of the Hickory Smoked ones, I could hardly even stand to smell them they were so strong. They had the texture of a Cheeto, only chewier.

On the bright side every kid I gave them to loved them and they are easy to chew for teething toddlers. I even gave one to my infant son and he sucked on it until it was gone. So the bottom line is that Pogos can be a healthier option for kids, but maybe not so much for people beyond Spaghetti O’s stages. I hate to pan something that seems like such a great idea, but this really just didn’t do it for me.

It’s kind of cool to see all the happy faces in the crowd as they sing along. The Doodlebops Live in Concert is a fun and zany production with cool dance moves and catchy music that the kids will really enjoy. Parents, on the other hand, may find it all a bit corny but if the kids are happy, so are we.

Concert videos never truly do a good band justice. You never get the same hype, excitement or vibe you get from when you are actually at a show. So then, how much less excitement do you get from a concert video of a pretend band? A lot less.

The songs are the same goofy songs from the TV show, but maybe without the goofy clown morality storylines to build up to them, they just lost their luster. My kids were bored. We sat all the way through it, but only because I made us. Goofy clowns lip-synching along to a couple of tunes during a 30 minute show is one thing. An entire concert made up of goofy lip-synching clowns is nearly unbearable. It wasn’t unpleasant, it was just boring and uninteresting.

This one was a huge clown-sized thumbs down for my entire family.

The Cruzer Gator is a flash drive that’s covered in mock alligator detailing and comes in pink, red and black.

It’s not just stylish, though. It has great features too. Like password protected access control. I love that I can safely carry my report cards to and from school with little risk of breaching confidentiality. It also allows you to take your files plus U3™ compatible PC programs wherever you go. (For U3 compatible PC programs go to www.u3.com - I didn’t try this feature but plan to when I have some free time in ten years or so. No PC installation is required to run the applications.)

A 2 GB drive is only $25, which is a huge decrease from a few years ago. Even an 8 GB drive is less than $80 if you want to splurge.

As a ‘Techie’ mom, have you ever wanted a way to transport extra digital pictures or files easily? Have you seen the USB flash drives by SanDisk or other companies and thought to yourself, “Hmmm, I could really use that.” But then thought you were being frivolous? Welcome to the 4GB Cruzer Gator by SanDisk.

I really wasn’t sure how useful 4GB would be, but once I started copying pictures and files to it, I quickly found out how much I love this little USB flash drive. If you notice, it is even stylish. Funny thing is that I have a dark red purse and guess what color I was able to receive? Yes you guessed it, red! How awesome is that?

The 4GB Cruzer Gator is stylish and small, yet large enough to handle my pictures and quite a few files within my documents folder. What a great, inexpensive Mother’s Day gift for that ‘Techie Mom’ you love!

We are giving away 5 sets of these DVD’s to our lucky readers!

My triplets are barely two years old, but they know what they like. That being said my review of the Clifford DVD’s is loosely based on the opinions of my short attention spanned toddlers.

As a genuine disclaimer I should note that my kids do not regularly watch DVD’s from start to finish. A 90 plus minute DVD is broken up into viewing segments, based on how much time I need to finish dinner, start a load of laundry and keep them otherwise entertained without me.

The Clifford DVD’s were a hit in short doses. My triplets enjoyed watching them and seemed interested in the screen for a maximum of about 15 minutes. Typical of any DVD and my kids though.

Natalie thought the red plastic case with a handle on it was a purse and she spent a good deal of her viewing time parading around the living room carrying as if it were an expensive Gucci bag. As a fashion accessory the Clifford DVD series we reviewed scored higher than the actual DVD itself. My kids still adore other characters more than the BIG RED DOG but perhaps with a little more maturity they will grow to love Clifford.

by Helene

We have spent many hours in line at the local PBS Kid’s Day waiting to meet Clifford, so when these two new DVD’s arrived I knew they would be a hit and they were. I was afraid we might have moved past this character, especially after our obsession that lasted a full year had downgraded to only sleeping with the red fur ball at night.

Our 5 year old thoroughly enjoyed the Valentine’s video and quickly named it his favorite new Clifford show (he’s seen a lot!). What I love about Clifford is the fact it is wholesome. We’ve enjoyed many pre-school age books with this character as well.

Clifford has been around a long time and nothing warms my heart more than knowing my son is enjoying something I did at his age. Plus I loved the design of the case!

by Emily

As a mom to five kids who are devoted to Baby Einstein, I knew introducing a cartoon like Clifford the Big Red Dog was going to be a stretch. Slipping the DVD into the player I already sensed their hesitation. However, the catchy music and colorful dog bounding across the screen quickly reeled them in, but that was pretty much where it ended.

I wasn’t sure if it was simply a lack of enthusiasm on their part or perhaps a tad bit of immaturity, but my kids didn’t enjoy it. I thought both Playtime with Clifford and Be My Big Red Valentine Clifford were sweet videos.

Unlike your typical movie, they didn’t drone on for 35-40 minutes. They had nice manageable sequences with a beginning, middle and an end. It was perfect in my opinion for a toddlers short attention span. I’d recommend this DVD to other kids in our same age group who maybe have had more TV time exposure. I think that was where we lost it.

Our kids just didn’t know what to do with this gleeful, red ball of energy, galloping across our TV. But I watched it and enjoyed every minute of it.

It’s different from the standard candy with milk chocolate and a hazelnut center. This is dark chocolate with more dark chocolate and a dark chocolate center. It was delicious.

If you buy them this season, you could help fight childhood hunger as well. I know I shouldn’t find that funny, because of the hungry children and all, but I do. Because it’s chocolate, fighting childhood hunger. You can just go to Share Something Sweet, send an e-card and Ferrero will donate $1 to Share Our Strength.

So last week I was having a cruddy day, the kids were crazy, we’re still adjusting to my husband’s new job and work schedule and I didn’t know what to make for dinner. The UPS guy pulls up at our house and the kids go insane flailing about in their effort to get to the door first, only to be greatly disappointed when the package was for me.

I opened it up, perplexed because I wasn’t expecting something, and out drop two packages of Ferrero’s new candy Rondnoir. Yes, Ferrero, the Roche people, those lovely little balls of hazel-nutty goodness.

These were balls, too, little bumpy balls of - dark chocolate. Oh. My. Heavens. It is a ball of dark chocolate, surrounded by some sort of crunchy dark chocolate thing, covered with bumpy little dark chocolate sprinkles. Shear indulgence.

As you might imagine, they are not low in calories, nor are they exactly healthy, but if you share, like I did, and only eat two by yourself, you won’t do too much damage to your waistline. My family was delighted with me, even if I STILL didn’t know what to make for dinner. It would make a great gift for any dark chocolate lover this holiday season.

When I received a sample of chocolates in the mail to review my first reaction was “Oooooo Chocolate!” My second reaction was”Ew, it’s Ferrero Rocher!” This has always been the chocolate I wanted to like. Packaged in its fancy little gold foil, alleging style, class and good taste it always seemed like just one of them popped into my mouth would be a little bite of heaven. Instead, I’ve always found them to be gross. It’s the hazelnut most likely. I always find that there are two kinds of hazelnut out there - the burnt icky kind vs. the smooth delicious kind. Ferrero Rocher always falls into the former category to me.

Closer inspection revealed this product NOT to be the Ferrero Rocher of my previous experience, but something calling itself “Rondnoir.” Wrapped in brown foil and hinting at chocolate goodness inside, I was still skeptical. Until I ate one. Dark chocolate in the center surrounded by a crunchy yummy wafer that is then rolled in little bits of chocolate delight that seem to be crushed dark chocolate. They are delicious. Ferrero Rocher has finally made a chocolate I like!

I have to be honest. I didn’t care for the Ferrero Rocher Rondnoir chocolate at all but then again, I don’t care much for dark or semi-sweet chocolate unless it’s in a chocolate chip cookie. Conversely, my husband really seemed to enjoy the Rondnoir so I suppose it’s ultimately a matter of personal preference.

To see if this new convenience worked for them keep reading.

Sometimes life works out. The nice review team at Props and Pans sent me a Febreze sample and it arrived at precisely the right moment!

Honestly, I am suspicious of fake smell products. However, getting into my car, which I do not drive unless it is absolutely necessary, a disturbing odor immediately accosted my senses. The culprit was a sippy cup full of rotten milk. The children were gagging and acting as if their little lives were coming to an end. Quick thought- something that does not always happen for me - I remembered the Febreze that I had just received.

A few pumps of Febreze and the smell dissipated. No lie. The children regained composure and I felt so smart and prepared. Since my car always stinks, I’m keeping the cute, handy Febreze in my glove compartment forevermore.

~by Bitsy

Normally, I shy away from scented, air-freshener-ish type products because well, never mind. That’s not the point here. The point is, I don’t usually buy Febreze but since I got a Febreze To Go (Extra Strength) bottle to sample, I have found more than one occasion in which to use it — the most noteworthy being the rain.

See, we’ve got our old car out front and we’re in the process of selling it. (Or trying to. Carmax is looking better and better!) Somewhere near the back window, we seem to have developed a tiny, tiny leak. Well, we haven’t been driving the car and apparently, just a little bit of drip, drip, dripping rain water in a car can make it REEK when it’s been closed up for a week.

Enter Febreze! I opened up all the windows and the back van door to let the heat help dry up some of the moisture and then I sprayed the heck out of the cargo area in the back with my little travel-sized Febreze and just let everything kind of marinate for a while. Later, I closed up the car and then took it for a drive around the block. The stinky, musty, waterlogged smell? All gone. Color me impressed!

~by Izzy

I use Febreze like it’s going out of style around our house. Ask my husband or the dog who sneezes every time I go on a spraying spree. It’s great for that quick freshen up or to take a stale smell out of the air. When we travel to my in-law’s we bring along a bottle (for the smoke stench). I’ve always thought about carrying a bottle in my purse or car, but knew the rather large bottle would make it difficult.

Imagine my surprise to find a small travel size bottle that is even under the ounces limit of air travel these days! I love the fact I can refill it with my larger bottle at home and carry it wherever we go. Especially after you’ve dined at some tavern and come out smelling like the greasy burgers they cook.

It only makes sense that Febreze would realize that we need items which are easy to take along with you. These days everyone is on the go, and now so is Febreze.

~by Emily

I don’t use regular Febreze so conceptually I wasn’t sure what the benefit of Febreze To Go would be. Apparently, the difference is the bottle. It’s smaller.I’m not inclined to haul around chemicals in my nice purse, nor in my diaper bag so again, I’m not sure of the benefit. Theoretically, I suppose you might keep it in your car or desk at work to eliminate odors in those places. The product isn’t more concentrated (although it is extra strength), as is the case with some detergent products that have come out lately in smaller packaging.

So, if I’m supposed to be excited about it being in a smaller bottle, then I guess I’m not.

The product itself is fine. It’s Febreze. It’s functional. I just don’t know if we needed this product in a smaller bottle.

Our PnP reviewers were asked to try the new Dawn Simple Pleasures dish soap. What did they think of it? Keep reading to find out!

I have a finicky nose. When the bottle of Dawn, including air freshener, arrived I could smell it before I even unpackaged it. Had it been on a shelf at the store, I would have held my breath and walked as quickly as possible past it, searching for the unscented versions of natural cleaners.

However, I felt as though I should at least give the soap part a shot. There was the perfect pan in my kitchen to test it - chicken spaghetti that had been reheated in the same casserole dish the next evening. It was dirty, crusty, and taunting me beside the sink.

I had intentionally not soaked it, in order to put Dawn to an even more difficult challenge. I squirted a little Dawn into the pan, wet my sponge and went to work.

The Dawn worked. It cut through all of the baked on nastiness that used to be my chicken spaghetti. I cleaned the dish quickly and easily, even though my sinuses were screaming out over the stink of fake waterlilies and jasmine.

In fact, it worked so well that I started searching for the ingredient list to see exactly what might have been left behind on that dish in residue form. It makes me a little nervous. So I sent the Dawn home with my father-in-law who thought it was awesome and gives it huge props. I, however, will be going back to a little soaking and some more natural, less intense smelling dish washing liquids.

~by Canape

I love air fresheners and things that make your home smell good, so when I first saw Dawn’s new product combining soap and scented beads I was thrilled! I do not buy generic when it comes to dish soap and Dawn is my preferred brand of choice. They offer a lot of variety and their product has always been powerful when it comes to scrubbing pots and pans.

The scent I tested was Water Lily and Jasmine (they also make Lemon & Tangerine and Apple & Pear). After taking off the sticker covering the vent I was almost knocked over with the strong aroma. Even my husband (who never notices anything) kept asking what that overwhelming scent was in the kitchen. Within a few days of sitting out by the sink it toned down a bit and was more pleasant.

Aside from the strong scent, my biggest issue is that I usually keep my soap bottle hidden and out of sight under the sink. This bottle is designed to be smaller and would make the sink look less cluttered, but my OCD behavior just couldn’t handle looking at it.

~by Emily

When I opened my box of Dawn Simple Pleasures, I immediately noticed a difference from the Dawn dish soap of the past — the scent! While I generally try to stay away from air fresheners and their strong synthetic scents, I must admit the water lily and jasmine scent was nice.

However, after I removed the little pieces of tape over holes of the scented compartment located on the bottom of the newly designed and much sleeker, curvier bottle I found myself overwhelmed by the fragrance within a few minutes. It was really, really strong and I was compelled to put the tape back on the bottle on at least one side. It was just too much for me.

After a week or so, I really didn’t notice the scent anymore which was probably for the best as strong perfumes and fragrances tend to give me a headache after a while.

As for the soap itself, it’s the same old Dawn and it still works really well on the greasiest, nastiest dishes, pots and pans, only now with a different smell.

If you can tolerate very strong fragrances, you’ll probably like Dawn Simple Pleasures. If you’re more like me, you might want to go with an earth-friendly dish soap like I normally use that’s scented only with grapefruit extract.

~by Izzy

We are not “fragrance” people in our house. We don’t use air fresheners, unless you count an open window on a breezy day. We tend to use unscented soaps, detergents, and what-have-you. I don’t really wear perfume, and my husband doesn’t use aftershave. We both tend toward the as-unscented-as-possible antiperspirants.

So it was with trepidation that I opened the box containing my sample of the new Dawn Simple Pleasures dish washing liquid and air freshener.

It is a bottle of dish washing liquid on top, and below is a plastic compartment with vents in it, and in there is a bunch of little pearly beads. I tore the tape off the bottom of it (like it said to on the package) and set it on my counter. We received the Water Lily and Jasmine scent, and right out of the box it was strong. Almost overpowering. It’s deep aqua color is pretty, and the scent is pleasant, if abundant.

I was prepared not to like it, and at first, I didn’t. The scent was just so strong that it overpowered the flavors of my food. The dish washing soap is quite concentrated, so a little bit goes a long way. If you are like us, and you don’t like strong fragrance, I recommend leaving the tape over the air freshener, at least initially, so that the fragrance is more subtle and doesn’t interfere with your food.

Now that it has vented for a week, the scent is toned way down, and I find that I don’t mind it and may, in fact, actually like it, but probably not enough to replace the Seventh Generation dish washing liquid that I normally use.

I was excited to try out Febreze candles because the husband is a smoker and we do tend to use candles to blot out the cigarette smell, plus we have diapers times two and three cats.

In short, there are odors which could stand to be masked.

The scent, an “apple cinnamon/there could be something tasty in the oven” sort of smell is really nice. It’s very strong, and also pleasant; none of that fake French vanilla, icky, too sweet smell that you sometimes get with candles.

However, I just don’t find it to be any different from other GOOD candles. It doesn’t seem to have any SUPER scent masking qualities that I can’t get from Yankee candles or other brands of that quality. Maybe the price point is going to be more in keeping with my budget than the Yankee candles I covet and that is an important thing to consider. I suppose if I can pick them up at the supermarket at a reasonable price, they would be worth buying.

One side note, however, is that the wick is nearly impossible to trim. They’ve coated it with something or done something unusual to it, and it’s really difficult to cut. Maybe this is just a minor thing but if you don’t want black smoke billowing out of your little glass candle holder and a flame 2 inches high, well, it might be important.

by Gidge

You know I love a sale, but you may not have deduced that I can be a bit of a snob about certain things. Opening my door to find a package awaiting my attention always peaks my interest, but when said package is found to contain a Febreze candle, honestly, I am somewhat disappointed. I forgot that I was to conduct a product review and was hopeful that when I opened the box something silky or dangly would delight and surprise me.

Immediately, I reprimand myself for such high and mighty judgment of the innocent candle, which is dressed-up in a box that cost more than the candle itself. Regularly, I am a fancy candle buyer, and I spend a great deal of time staring and evaluating my candles. In retrospect, I should have declined this assignment because of my intense candle pickiness. I judge a candle on its subtly of smell, effectiveness of projecting that smell for long periods of time, and most certainly on container decoration.

However, I made up my mind to be open to the Febreze candle and understand that it is not a $40 candle, and that its purpose is different than what I usually seek. My mind was a clear slate. The candle container is clear glass, which I rate as high. No scrolling gold or pine needle décor on the glass. No country sealed lid. The candle I received was dark red and was scented with spice and cinnamon.

I light the candle in my home office, which by the way is very particular in its appointments. The Febreze candle sits on the cleared table desk next to a stack of black notebooks that have never been used, and in fact, may never be used. The sight of the clean, neat, new notebooks next to a box of brand new Oxford pencils gives me wild satisfaction. The candle burns neatly, and I work happily while drinking a glass of cold water with the slightest hint of cucumber. So subtle is the flavor of cucumber.

Over a period of five or ten minutes I become agitated. What’s the opposite of sniffing? I do that. Like a tiny dog I push air out of my nose. It’s the candle! Submerged in my work, I didn’t realize that the room was filling with an overwhelming holiday scent that was overpowering my senses. I blow out the Febreze candle.

My eyes sting.

I open the window, and that’s something we don’t do in Texas. The humidity wafts into the room and my clothes, papers and hair become damp. No matter how unbearable the heat and humidity, it’s not as bad as the candle smell that chokes me.

My head is hurting and the smell is inside my body. The Febreze chemicals have begun mixing with my body chemistry. Grabbing my computer, I flee the Febreze candle and resume my work elsewhere.

There are probably loads of people who will like the Febreze candle:

People who smoke.
People who eat beans.
People who use Downy.
People who wear perfume.
People who have wet dogs.
People who use air fresheners.
People who own teenage boys.
People who rent houses to college students.

So, Febreze will do a great business with this candle, but I will not be one of the customers.

by Bitsy

I have a secret…a pretty good one, too. You need to love two things in order to enjoy my secret. Febreze and scented candles. On my doorstep I found this beautifully decorated box with a candle inside. It’s not even at the store yet, but I received one to review. I admit as first glance I thought it was quite a big box for such a small candle, but once I read on the side that it will burn for 25-30 hours I understood.

Mine was a red “Apple Spice & Delight” candle in a small glass holder. Yum-o! I could smell the delicious scent as soon as I opened up the box. I couldn’t wait to actually burn it. The scent truly fills up the room and in my case our entire small house. With two males and a dog, our home could use some odor eliminating.

My husband came home an hour after I began burning it and asked if I was baking an apple pie as soon as he walked in the door. What a way to make your home feel warm and inviting all by just lighting a candle.

Febreze will release their five new candles in July for under $8 each. Many times new products will launch with discount coupons, so keep your eyes open. Personally, I’ll be looking to try the “Linen & Sky” and “Vanilla & Refresh” candles.

My box of Fiber One Raisin Bran Clusters arrived yesterday afternoon. While I considered trying it last night for supper, my husband wanted something more, so I saved it for breakfast.

This morning, I woke up to realize that a 9.5 week pregnant woman with morning sickness may not be the best reviewer for breakfast cereals. So, as midmorning rolled around, I finally felt as if I could stomach trying some of the cereal.

Pouring a nice hearty bowl and drenching it in milk, I sat down on the couch to savor every bite. After savoring two bites, I realized there was really nothing to savor. It’s bland. It’s boring. I could eat it!

Although disappointed in the actual lack of taste and the clusters that were just tiny flecks, the cereal was something that I could eat at a time when I have lately only been able to stomach HoHo’s and nachos. As a functional cereal, I will give it props as it was edible and I’m about to have a long awaited trip to the ladies room. As something I enjoy eating however, I will have to pass this up and return to my HoHo’s.

~ Canape

We’ve all seen those commercials where they keep stacking bowl upon bowl of cereal saying “you’d need to eat this amount to equal the amount of fiber in one bowl of xxxxx.” You should only need 1 bowl of Fiber One Raisin Brand Clusters. With 11 grams of fiber per serving that should keep the colon good and healthy for a while!

I’ll be honest. I’m not one that enjoys crunchy, whole grain goodness. I’ve had the regular Fiber One cereal before and swore I was eating rabbit food. But you add some actual sweetened flakes, raisins, honey flavored clusters and you’ve got a deal.

My husband is the whole grain eater in our household and he was amazed at the overall tastiness this cereal had to offer. We were both expecting something bland, but Fiber One has found a way to add flavor to healthy eating.

~ Emily

Finally a product for which I can enthusiastically give a good review – Fiber One Raisin Bran Clusters is great!

First of all, I love the taste of cereal and Fiber One Raisin Bran Clusters is quite tasty. Secondly, I love crunch, and aside from Grape Nuts (who can afford those calories?), you don’t get better crunch than Fiber One Raisin Bran Clusters. GOLEAN Crunch attempts to satisfy the crunch demand, but it falls short. Fiber One Raisin Bran Clusters will not disappoint in the crunch arena.

Another important factor in my cereal choice is fiber, and let me tell you, this cereal has 12 grams of fiber. The downside is that it has 170 calories, and Weight Watchers will dock you 3 points (milk not included) for a bowl of it.

My sister-in-law tells me that Fiber One makes another cereal that does not include the raisin bran clusters and that cereal is only 60 calories and boasts 14 grams of fiber. I couldn’t eat all the grass in my yard and get fiber like that!

Let me just say, when I finish this box of Fiber One Raisin Bran Clusters, which might be tonight if I continue eating right out of the box, I am going to check out the low calorie Fiber One cereal. I’ll let you know how it turns out.

~ Bitsy

When I opened my box of Fiber One Raisin Bran Clusters, I was just going to grab a handful and give it a quick taste but as I sat there watching Curious George with my son, I found myself eating several handfuls. And then several more. And then my son wanted some so he ate several toddler-sized handfuls. By the time I decided to close up the box, we’d put a pretty good dent in it. I think it’s safe to say that we liked it.

It’s a bit sweeter than Raisin Bran, which I don’t like to eat by the handful, and the flakes were smoother and crispier, which I prefer. The only down side is that it has almond pieces (according to the label although I never saw them) and walnut meal in it and this means my daughter cannot eat any of it due to a nut allergy.

The upside, however, is that it has 11 grams of fiber in it and if anyone needs more fiber in their diet, it’s me. So based on taste, texture and fiber content, I liked it. Regarding the nuts, well…I wish they’d left them out.

There is something about summer time that makes me want to break out some rock-n-roll music and just lounge in the sun, particularly when the 4th of July rolls around. It’s just the American way. When asked to review The Rolling Stones “Biggest Bang” DVD box set I was ecstatic! Who wouldn’t be?

It contained over 7 hours of live footage and beautiful music. I enjoyed the interviews and behind the scenes features, learning things I never knew. Then again I wasn’t born in this era of rock. The showcase was edited in the perfect sequence and flowed as smoothly as the sounds of live music. Eddie Vedder and Dave Matthews premiered as a ’special guest’ and completed my fantasy. This is a concert everyone can attend.

The Rolling Stones are the living legend band that you simply must see live. Like the Beatles, you know far many more Rolling Stones tunes than you think you do. Given the opportunity, you simply must get in your car and go to a Stones show. You must.

Barring the possibility of that, The Biggest Bang is a great option. Although nothing beats the heat and humidity of the actual crowd of a Stones show, The Biggest Bang gives you a good idea of what it might be like to be at a show.

Sporting the largest stage ever erected for a rock concert, The Rolling Stones played to crowds upwards of 100,000 in Brazil, Japan, China, Texas and Argentina. The whole set is 7 hours of Stones footage including a dull documentary that you can just skip unless you are really die hard fan but be sure not to miss the duets with Bonnie Raitt, Dave Matthews, and Eddie Vedder.

My husband and I are avid music fans. We are both musicians. We love live shows. For us, this box set is a great addition to a collection of concerts on DVD. Instead of putting on a CD during a party, we will often put on DVD’s of concerts. The Biggest Bang will fit in nicely with the 11 million hours of Live Aid that I also have on DVD.

So props to the new Rolling Stones box set. We enjoyed it mightily. But if you are not already a Stones fan, don’t go looking for this box set to turn you into one. For purchase, it is better suited for true fans and lovers of concerts. Renting it is a different story though. Because really, who wouldn’t want to see (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction performed in three different countries?

How could I write a bad review for the new Rolling Stones DVD set, The Biggest Bang, when disc one of four is entitled Zilker Park? Zilker Park is only where I run, where my children play and where the trail was closed for two days as roadies prepared for the Biggest Bang concert featured on the DVD.

Seeing the concert that was filmed at Zilker Park is amazing. The DVD shows the park packed with 45,000 fans who are thrilled to be in the midst of an historical show. What makes the Austin, Texas show unique is the Stones played some “once in a lifetime” songs. Hearing and seeing Mick Jagger sing Waylon Jenning’s song Bob Willis is Still the King is a must for any Stones fan.

Watching a concert on a computer is interesting, but listening to music in the car can’t be beaten. Guess if we had a fancy television with surround sound I could appreciate the DVD more. I’m a “loud music in the car” kind of girl. On the other hand, my children were completely fascinated at the sight of Keith Richards who is as old as their grandparents. They sat drop-jawed through the entire first disk.

In short, I love that the Stones still feel like entertaining the world. Nobody does it better. But then again, I would be just as happy with my Rolling Stones Some Girls on vinyl that my brother loaned me thirty years ago.
