My two year old daughter was so excited when I told her the mail was for her. Barney: I Love You Gift Set came and immediately went into the computer. She listened to “Dino-tunes” while I finished opening the three DVD’s.
Dino-tunes is an exclusive CD that is only available free with this set. This CD includes classic songs like “ABC Song”, “I’ve Been Working on the Railroad” and “If You’re Happy and You Know It.” I was so excited to see my daughter recognize the parts of her body and move them to the songs. This was the first time she was doing the actions to “If You’re Happy and You Know It.”
The next thing we did was we watched the DVD, “Barney: Let’s Go to the Zoo.” I would have to say this was her favorite because we watched it twice in the three day period of viewing all three DVD’s. In this DVD Barney, BJ and Baby Bop go around the zoo visiting different animals. BJ tries to capture perfect pictures of animals and finds it’s more difficult than it looks to get a GREAT picture. My daughter kept asking, “what’s that, what’s that.” There is also an interactive portion that we played with a little bit on the computer. There wasn’t enough action to keep her attention though.
“Barney: Now I Lnow My ABC’s” was a lot of fun for her to watch as well. She isn’t quite ready to learn letters but she was trying to repeat them. I think what got her attention on this one was the attention to Baby Bop. She learned how to say baby because of her brother. But now she was really focusing on the use of it for something other than her brother.
The third DVD is a sing-along containing over 20 songs. My favorite part about this DVD is it has the option to play it over and over again. She watches Barney on TV but it hardly ever keeps her attention all the way through. She usually walks off and plays, but the 47 minutes of singing kept her pretty busy. She was doing hand motions and swaying along to the words “Sun, Sun, Mr. Golden Sun”.
This was a big hit in our house. Even my son was bouncing up and down.
