Fiber One Bars Contain Sweetness Overload

I’m back to work and with the lovely Atlanta commute I wanted to get some granola bars to stash in my purse to eat if I miss breakfast, or to otherwise snack on. I am also approaching the big 4-0 (ack it’s today!) and realized that I really should be aware of my body’s need for healthful things like fiber. Am I really this old?

Regardless, the Oats and Caramel flavor of the chewy Fiber One Bar seemed like a tasty choice. What I was expecting was the typical chewy granola bar with some caramel mixed in, much the same way honey or other things are mixed in to give you the hint of the flavor. Almost like a compliment to the other tastes. What I got instead was caramel overload.

Let me be clear, I’ve got a sweet tooth the size of Alabama. For me to say that these bars are too sweet is really quite a statement. I was barely able to finish the box, but had to - as my children wouldn’t eat them.

I’ll pass on the other flavors, the benefit of the fiber isn’t worth the overwhelming sugary flavor and they aren’t inexpensive enough to casually experiment. Sorry, no props for this bar.

If are not crazy about the Fiber One bar, you might want to try the Kardea bars–1g plant sterols, 7g fiber, 7g protein…..almonds, oats, agave and more….and these really do taste great. If you would like to try a samples, email a mailing address to customerservice@kardeanutrition.com.

My husband loves the fiber one bars! He has them as a weekly snack in the lunches I pack for him. He’ll be thrilled to know a new flavor is coming out!

We love these bars. The caramel is a little too sweet. I agree with that. Try the peanut butter - YUM!!!

Oh Dear, as delicious as the Fibre One Bar was, it nearly did me in after I ate one. I enjoyed the bar at about 10:00 in the morning and by evening I was in such gasto intestinal misery I thought I’d die. It lasted all night and still into the morning. When will it end???? Do you use a laxative in the chocolate??? I’ll never eat one again.
