Kraft Bagel-fuls Not Worth The Time To Prepare

During a recent grocery store trip I noticed something new in the breakfast freezer food section called Kraft Bagel-fuls. I was curious about a frozen bagel stick with a cream cheese filling and I was hungry, so in the cart the box of Cinnamon bagels went.

There were several other flavors to choose from such as Whole Grain, Strawberry, Chive and Original. I went with Cinnamon because I didn’t read the box very well and thought it contained raisins. (Aren’t cinnamon and raisin like peanut butter and jelly and always a pair?)

My husband enjoys a toasted bagel every once in a while, so my thought was that this might save him some prep time in the morning. Plus it’s harder to transport two slices of a bagel with cream cheese spread around it. This might not make as much mess in the kitchen as he usually does with getting the toaster out, no dirty dishes, etc…

All you do is warm this up in the microwave for 20 seconds and it’s declared ready to eat. You can also use a toaster over, but we do not have one. I had several issues with heating this frozen bagel. First, the recommended time in the microwave barely got the bagel warm and the cream cheese filling was still cold. It had the texture of cottage cheese. I was a little grossed out, but continued to heat the bagel a little bit more thinking that if I could warm the filling it would be more creamy. No such luck. I ended up with a bagel that was too tough to chew.

Overall, I think we’re too lazy to toast our own bagel and spread cream cheese on it. The problem is that these Bagel-ful’s aren’t any good and it took almost the same amount of time to prepare as the old fashioned way. I don’t know about you, but warm cottage cheese makes me hurl. Bottom line is that Bagel-ful’s are a pan and we’re sticking to the old school version.
