Doodlebops Live In Concert On DVD

Doodlebops Live In ConcertI’m not sure if it’s the music, costumes or silliness, but my girls love the Doodlebops. Ever since the first time they heard, “Mo, don’t pull the rope!” they’ve been hooked.

Doodlebops Live in Concert is 55 minutes of non-stop music and performances, as they sing 25 familiar and new songs that the audience obviously enjoys. It’s kind of cool to see all the happy faces in the crowd as they sing along. The Doodlebops Live in Concert is a fun and zany production with cool dance moves and catchy music that the kids will really enjoy. Parents, on the other hand, may find it all a bit corny but if the kids are happy, so are we.

Concert videos never truly do a good band justice. You never get the same hype, excitement or vibe you get from when you are actually at a show. So then, how much less excitement do you get from a concert video of a pretend band? A lot less.

The songs are the same goofy songs from the TV show, but maybe without the goofy clown morality storylines to build up to them, they just lost their luster. My kids were bored. We sat all the way through it, but only because I made us. Goofy clowns lip-synching along to a couple of tunes during a 30 minute show is one thing. An entire concert made up of goofy lip-synching clowns is nearly unbearable. It wasn’t unpleasant, it was just boring and uninteresting.

This one was a huge clown-sized thumbs down for my entire family.
