Whenever I go for a pedicure, I always go for salons that stock OPI polish. I love picking out a bottle from the display and flipping it over to read the fun name of the shade. With names like A-Rose at Dawn…Broke By Noon (sparkling medium pink shade), I’m Not a Waitress (shimmering red), Skinny Dip’n in Lake Michigan (glittery nude), Russian Navy (dark trendy deep blue), ElePhantastic Pink (cotton candy pink) and Gargantuan Green Grape (lime green) your basic manicure and pedicure just got more interesting!
Not only are the names of the colors fun, but they are gorgeous and true. What you see in the bottle is what you get! The polish is a nice consistency, thick enough so it won’t streak or need tons of coats to look great, but not too thick to be gloppy. I find that a base coat, followed by two coats of OPI polish and finished with a top coat makes for a perfect pedicure.
I didn’t used to believe the hype about OPI and then I became a convert when I realized that the cheap drugstore polish I was using between pedicures just didn’t last. I put it on and it would chip the same day or if I was lucky, a day later. OPI doesn’t chip and I’m notoriously hard on my fingernails and toenails. OPI even endures daily pool outings where my feet are always exposed in flip flops.
Perhaps the reason why OPI doesn’t chip is the lack of chemicals traditionally found in nail polishes. OPI doesn’t contain DBP (dibutyl phthalate), DBP (dibutyl phthalate), or formaldehyde. The company, like The Body Shop, does not test on animals.
If you are like me and can’t always make time to go to a pedicure appointment, then put your money towards quality polish like OPI. Get on their website to try on the polishes that best fit your skin tone, find the closest retailer and treat yourself. After all, your newly exfoliated and moisturized feet are just begging for some new toe polish!
Now all you need are some great flip flops. Thank goodness for you, I’m a flip flop fanatic and can’t wait to tell you who makes my favorite pairs tomorrow!
