Memorial Day Giveaway to Kick Off Summer!

I’m enjoying the weekend bike riding and playing with the family. There’s a birthday party Monday afternoon for a friend. Great weather and family time!

Yesterday, we went grocery shopping and bought all of the items for our barbecue.

Today, I am having a barbecue for family and friends. Margaritas will be served!!

we did the normal swimming, grilling, playing on the swing set, water balloon fights, baseball, etc.

My kid’s godmother and her kids came to town. Last night we did pizza and stuffed potatoes and steak salads. She and I stayed up and watched PS I Love You. That is a must see!!!
Today, the kids are swimming, swinging and eating leftover pizza.
I made Monkey Bread and bacon for breakfast and we’re about to crack open our first cold beers and I’m going to be grilling Chicken and Veggies for our ‘big meal’, and after dark, it’ll be coffee malts on the patio with the tiki torches blazing to keep away the skeeters.

Happy Memorial Day! Our son is home from college and our high school son has a day off. Even my husband had a full three days
off. Actually, we are spending it enjoying each other’s company!
Now, that our boys are older, it is enjoyable having the four of us together! It is raining cats and dogs here today. We have battled each other in video games and had a wonderful meal together. Last evening, our oldest son’s girlfriend joined us for dinner as did my 90 year old day. What fun it is to have a group aged 16-90!!!!! My sons and their dad have been able to get a few times outside to play catch! Also, our sons got to pick what they wanted for their Memorial Day meal! I made them their favorite pie called “Bishop’s Pie!” Since my dad and many of my uncles served in WWII, we take time to remember all the veterans who have lost their lives for our freedom. These family weekend tend to go way to quickly. Thanks,Cindi

I am having a fantastic holiday. Friends and family are over for great food and a huge bonfire.

We’ve had some weird weather so far, with snow even! Today we’ll be having a bbq, with some family and friends.

Its been a busy weekend so far.. middle daughter played in the school band in a parade yesterday, and then our niece graduated high school. today daughter is singing in the choir at her school. and tomorrow hubby and i will be part of the memorial day ceremonys in town, carrying flags, firing rifles etc. and daughter will be playing in the band again.. busy busy busy..lol

We are building an arbor/fire escape off of the front porch. We recently renovated our upstairs gameroom into my teenage daughter’s bedroom and needed a fire escape. We are also doing chores for our neighbors/friends. Their 9 year old son is in Ft. Worth having brain surgery. Any and all prayers would be much appreciated!! My job always keeps me busy during holidays. I am a pet sitter. So, needless to say, if holidays get celebrated within my family, it’s a few days later or before. I am looking forward to having time with my granddaughters!

Fixed the roof on our patio, rearranged furniture on the patio, planted flowers, and barbecued for family. Chilln’ out now with the torches going to keep the bugs away. Hope everyone has a happy and safe holiday.

Time with family! Picking strawberries, visiting friends, swimming, cooking out… and tomorrow (Memorial Day) we will honor those who served and visit a memorial tribute.

Even with gas prices so high, hubby and I took a day trip to the northern part of the state and checked out a casino up there. We signed up for comp cards and they gave us a free buffet meal – it was delicious. We enjoyed just getting away for a few hours.

We spent the weekend planting some plants in the garden and playing in the yard. It rained most of Sunday so we watched a few movies.

This holiday we are fishing and walking on the beach. We are just enjoying the environment close to our house.

My birthday (and also my mother-in-law’s) usually falls on Memorial Day weekend. This year it is ON Memorial Day. We usually have a cookout either at our home or the in-laws.

I had all my children, grandchildren and my best friend over to grill. After it got dark, we had “drive-in night”. We set up the large screen, the projector, the surround sound system and lots of chairs in the backyard.. We watched Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium and Superbad. We had a grand time.

Since Saturday, I have been going to cookouts. Will be going to another one today.

We are enjoying our weekend with swimming, playing at the park, and ignorning the laundry.

We are grilling, swimming, and hangin out with family!

We spent all our time as a family. Just the four of us enjoying the deck, screened in gazebo, the kids sand table, and watched the kids play together. So far we have eaten every meal out here since lunch yesterday. It was amazing having breakfast out here this morning which my husband cooked (scrambled eggs, biscuits, home fries, and ham). My favorite time had to be having the kids fall asleep out here under our star lights and big comforters while we enjoyed the breezy, beautiful evening.

I spent the earlier part of the weekend moving into my new place. Today, I’m spending the day relaxing. Yesterday we went to my parents’ farm and watched my son and his friends target shooting and then my husband flew his power paraglider. Today a picnic with friends.

On Saturday mu husband & I got a sitter (THIS IS HUGE, we don’t do it to often) and took his 1972 Charger to a classic car show. We cooked on the grill when we got home. Sunday was spent hanging out with our three daughters and Monday has been more of the same with a little laundry and dishes thrown in for good measure.

Cooking, cleaning, washing clothes. You know….the usual.

We went to Disneyland Thursday, to beat the crowd. (We live nearby) Sunday, we went to see Prince Caspian. Today, we all slept in late, because no one had work or classes. We’ll go to the gym early, and maybe take a hike later. (Weather and energy permitting.)

I spent the whole day with my whole family. We Bar-b-qued, then made our yearly pilgrimage to place flowers on my older kids dads grave. After that we treated the grandkids and ourselves to a night a the local DriveIn. It stormed and rained for the first show but we lasted it out and fully enjoyed the second one. Today I am just cleaning up the mess, going out for dinner and relaxing by reading a good book.

Well, my father-in-law is coming over from England so we’ve been making his room ready, cleaning up the house. The kids have been playing with friends and today my husband took all 3 kids for a couple of hours to give me a break (I know, he’s a sweetheart). Thanks for the great giveaway!

I spent the holiday just like any other day – my husband is in law enforcement and they don’t get to take holidays off.

We are spending a relaxing week end….getting ready for a lot of grandparenting when school is out!

I slept late the first day and then went on a picnic. The second day I totally cleaned and reorganized my bedroom. Today I went to see Indiana Jones and then grilled out and sat outside enjoying the sunshine.

We spent most of the day at a local Marina where the kids like to swim. Tonight we’ll BBQ with a small group of family and friends. Pretty low key.

I spent most of the day in front of my computer finding activities and games for my son’s 3rd birthday party next week (in between loads of laundry). We’ve got burgers on the grill right now.

Our Memorial Day was spent entertaining my mom and dad who drove from GA to VA to be with us. We grilled hamburgers and hot dogs, made homemade ice cream, and visited on the front porch.

we got a new grill (the older one was nested in over the winter), put it together, finished our walkway, went to a bday party, bought a new desk, put it together, cleaned out the house and donated our extra stuff, gardened, used our new grill for a bbq

My 15 month old son and I read patriotic books, sang songs, and we had an indoor cookout of pan fried steak, garlic pasta, and corn on the cob!

And of course we said a prayer of thanks for all the veterans and the active duty military! My hubby is in the US NAVY so we are very thankful for the military, wether retired or active, they are both extremely important!

We had a few family and friends here and we BBQ on my grill (chicken and ribs, steaks and brats and all the fixings) and sat on back deck and watched our cats play.

we took the children to a beautiful park overlooking a lake. they have sand by the lake and everyone had a blast!

We cooked out, of course! Hamburgers and a new gourmet sausage I had never heard of before, something with Italian seasoning and parmesan cheese in them, pretty good. The stars are coming out now and it’s time to prop up the feet and sip a bit of imported Limoncello to bring us the taste of the Italian sun.

We have a unique festival here in Louisville, Ky. called Abbey Road On The River where they have a ton of bands that play Beatles music. We went to see a Jimi Hendrix impersonator today.

We spent the holiday with my inlaws, having a BBQ and visiting.

I ran a 5k on Saturday. Spent the day and night with my side of the family on Sunday. Spent the day with my husband’s side of the family today (Monday). It was a great weekend.

We worked around the house, went for a few bike rides with the kids and went to the park for a picnic lunch one day.

My sister had her baby last week so we went to her house to visit. It was so cute to see my girls (4 and 18 months) with the baby. They actually fought over who got to hold him! It was a very relaxing weekend

My weekend was spent making my son happy. He just turned 15 this weekend (saturday; 24th of May) and we had a bunch of his friends come over to celebrate. The never went home after that. We had about 3 extra mouths to feed at any given moment since the literally lived with us until the went home today at about 5 o’clock pm. It was great but I wish I would have been able to get out of the house for a little bit. We were strapped for money so it was out of the question anyways. Winning this prize would really help raise my spirits because although my son had a wonderful time (he said so himself…and thanked me numerous times) and I’m glad that he did. I just was unable to buy him the one thing that he wanted; an XBox 360…all his friends have one, but not my son. So, like I say…winning this would brighten my spirits a lot.

Friday,Saturday, and Sunday I worked out in my yard. On Sunday I spent the day in the Hospital with my faternal twin sister who’s having trouble with her heart. A very rough day for me on Memorial Day. I can only ask that everybody please pray for my twin. We are 48 years old. Thank You.

We just stayed in and cleaned and packed like crazy to get ready for our move! It was a fun and productive way to spend the holiday.

We went to the park on Saturday, had friends over on Sunday and spent today (Memorial Day) at my in-laws, hanging out in the pool and ending the day with a great meal – steak, caesar salad, baked potatoes – and some good red wine. Bliss!

I finally have enough time to just sit, catch up on some projects, and finally get that eye twitch to stop.

This is the first weekend in about a month that we haven’t had houseguests. That means this is the first weekend in about a month that I don’t have to pick up after myself.

We celebrated my daughter’s birthday with a fun party on Saturday. On Monday we shopped for items we needed for our remodeling project and then had a BBQ and movie night with the kids. Perfect family fun vacation.

I spent the holiday celebrating my first wedding anniversary. We took my son along and made it a family vacation because I am due with my second child in August. It was nice to just get away even though we were only about 45 min. to an hour away from home in a Travelodge. It was great to have that family time together to do different exciting things!

Was just talking about the Baby Banz Sunglasses yesterday! Would love to have those for Baby Harry. We spent the day taking mini walks, blowing bubbles & eating sweet potatoes.

Well it came a thunder storm and we didnt get to enjoy the outside activities like grilling and swimming in the pool, but we took everything inside and had our own little celebration indoors. we played games and eat cookies, fajitas and popcorn. we had a nice time.

I spent it with my husband who surprised me by coming home. He took his two week leave from Afghanistan where he is with the Army. The Friday before all I was planning to do was to have a quiet dinner but it ended up being the best weekend in the world!!

I am a single parent, and my kids and I stayed home and cooked out. We had a great BBQ and worked on getting the pool ready for summer.

Friday having a party and bonfire with them, saturday and sunday just plain old hanging out with friends, sunday visiting the family on their camping trip, sunday watching the memorial day parade. Memorial Day fell on my Husband’s Birthday this year, so it was extra special this year. My husband works so many hours, I rarely get to see him anymore so it was great for both of us to have a day off together. He loves the race track, so we went together to watch the horses run this year for the holiday.

My husband had to work Memorial Day so I spent it alone online.

We went to my brothers house for a nice picnic!!

We cleaned the house, worked in the yard and then relaxed and had a cook-out.

I went on a walking tour of our local cemetary, had a barbeque at my aunt’s and watched the Memorial Day parade in my city.

We had a busy weekend.. put in a hot tub, went to the inlaws, planted a lot of flowers, cleaned the garage, watched the parade, church, and more family! It was busy and fun!

We went to my dad’s which is about 20 minutes away and had a cookout. The kids like it because there is a huge playground and trampoline. It was pretty relaxing.

We went to a reunion in Nebraska. We played music trivia, listened to the hotel band, and went out for BBQ since it was raining outside. We also took a moment to honor the vets in our family. It was so nice to see everyone again and I cannot wait till next year. We also

I went to two BBQ’s and got a massage and pedicure! I went out with friends Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday night!!! I had a BLAST!!!!

When it was nice out I did some gardening, and on the crappy days did some projects around the house getting ready for summer, (if it ever gets here)

We went to a friends bbq who burned the steaks but they still tasted great, we p;ayed on the wii and some card gamess

Spent the weekend at my wives aunt and uncles house.

My baby girl and I went swimming for her first time in my apartment’s pool. We’ve been everyday since!

I spent it at home with kidney stones. SO FUN. haha

We made some delicious Pasta and took the kids to the park and put them to bed early to spend much needed time alone!

We went to Gettysburg to visit the amazing town and battlefield, and to pay respects at the memorial cemetery there. It was our first visit there and I would recommend it for everyone.

Both my hubby & 18 yr old son had to work the holiday, so I enjoyed having the house to myself by taking a nice long nap!

Unfortunately it rained here all day on Memorial Day so it was a day spent indoors but quality time with the family. We played and watched a movie. Over the weekend we visited family and had a blast. Overall it was a great weekend but went by way too fast!

When I first woke up on Saturday, I thought maybe I overslept and missed summer because we had winterlike weather all weekend here in N. CA. So, instead of going to Great America, we spent the weekend cleaning up the back yard and trying to get the garage cleaned up! But ditched that and went to see Indiana Jonesl. Then Monday, one of the kids was sick so we played Nintendo WII Mario Kart.

We opened our seasonal site at the campground and invited 35 of our closest friends and family over for a cookout. Lots of fun all around.

I just stayed home and remembered my family members who went to war to defend my country. They are no longer with us but we still have them in our hearts.

I spent the day with my boyfriend’s family. We went to the graveyard, and I watched as his aunt and cousin laid flowers on 5 uncles graves. The cousin turned toward me and said, “Meet the family.”

Had a glorious time spending all 3 days in the rain while working in the yard. Felt good to get caught up! I wrapped the weekend by inviting a handful of friends and family over for dinner and drinks.

I spent the day relaxing and working on yard work. The previous day, my family had a get together. We grilled out and had a great afternoon together. It ended up being a great weekend!

I wasn’t feeling well so we didn’t do too much. I did cook out on the grill which everyone was happy with.

Spent Saturday cleaning, but then on Sunday and Monday we BBQ’ed and watched movies, and took naps!

I had to work all weekend long, but I still managed to take out some quality time with the family. We had a crawfish boil, caught up with the latest family gossip and got to play with each one of my necies and nephews! We had a blast playing rockband, the wii, and with remote control cars!

We had a “cook-out”, but it rained, so we put 40 people in the house.

I spent the holiday weekend working the NASCAR races in Charlotte, shopping with a friend and having an indoor “cookout” with other friends.

I’m a single mom so me & my three kids, along with two other single friends came over with there kids & we grilled, ate, danced to music & videos, let the kids swim & play in water, then made them all frozen drinks.

we had a going away bar b que for our close friend who joined the air force reserves and is going for his 16 week training. He had to leave his wife, 1 and 4 year old boys at home. It was a fun day, but bitter sweet for sure

Sun-soaking at the Texas coast. Water was not clear, but weather was awesome. The alternator went out on the vehicle so we stayed another day. We kayak fished, swam and enjoyed poolside “refreshments.” (and the fish were not biting)

I spent Memorial Day with my dad and his old war buddies from Vietnam swap stories and grilling out. It was great to see them all laugh and having fun.

I spent Memorial day visitng with my dad. I was able to find some of his old war buddies from Vietnam that lived here in Texas and most were able to come visit. We bar-b-qued, laughed and all the buddies swapped stories.

For us, it was one last weekend getaway while we are still living in FL. We went to Orlando and went to Sea World and downtown Disney (ok, and the outlets, too!) and had a blast!!

I had a relaxing weekend doing self work. I read about nutrition, spirituality or emotional well being. I start by going inside, see where I’m stuck and push myself past what’s comfortable. I pick a book that’s going to help me push through those boundaries.

I spent the holiday weekend at my parent’s shore house on Long Beach Island, NJ. The weather was beautiful and I also celebrated my 49th birthday. My family enjoyed having some fun together and continuing some of our traditions!!

I actually had to work, as I am a home infusion RN, but that is okay as I was able to attend a picinic for awhile with some family and out of town guests. but the biggest thing I do every holiday is go to the Vettran’s cemetary and just drive through. every grave is marked with a small American flag and it is a breath-taking site. I started this when my children were younger so they would understand the meaning of the holiday, but now I actually look forward to it as it such a calm and peaceful feeling, knowing we are free, thanks to those who lost their lives for us………….I can’t imagine how we can ever repay them or their families for their loss, but to remember and be grateful for this free land of ours.

I spent the holiday playing with my dogs. I hardly ever get any time off so I really enjoyed myself!!!!

We spent the majority of the weekend with my husband’s family in Kansas. On Sunday evening we traveled to my parent’s lake house for Monday and Tuesday. We went to the lake, searched for shells, had a picnic, went to a museum, and vegged out on the deck.

It was an awesome start to what promises to be an awesome summer!

I had minor surgery 3 weeks ago, still painful. Thank good ness for cable tv. Good shows on!
My kids did come over next day.

We planted our veggie garden and then had a BBQ in the evening.

Oh and I forgot when we were fishing my dauhter cought a fish so did I and my daughters made some friends when we got back we whent to my sisters and realxed in her hot tub it was awsome!

We spent the Memorial Holiday remembering our veterans by playing patriotic music and having a picnic and celebrating 3 birthdays.

I have to confess: I stayed inside and organized my house. I went through catalogs and recycled them, went through my dresses and pants and then tackled my paper piles. I feel better.

For the Holiday I went no where just enjoyed my home and all my loved ones that abide within my homes walls that was plenty for me:)Family means everything !

I went camping in Northern Michigan with my sons who are Cub Scouts and husband with some other families from the Cub Scout pack. I climbed a rock wall then rappelled down a tower as did my children and husband. We made a meal for 23 people over a campfire, too. We also decorated leather bookmarks with leather stamps, shot BB guns, shot bows and arrows, roasted marshmallows, and played catch. I also managed to get some weeding done at home then took an evening boat ride to relax before I had to go back to work on Tuesday. A fantastic family weekend!

Didn’t do much. Husband always has to work on that day. Could have been at a Cubs baseball game in Chicago with friends if he didn’t have to work.

I stayed in and relaxed.

We had a fully loaded cook out. Also just hung out in the backyard.
