OK, let’s face it. It’s a whole lot more fun to say, “Honey, pass the Jig-A-Loo” than it would be to say, “Honey, pass the WD-40.” The paper that came along with my free sample of Jig-A-Loo stated there are literally hundreds of practical uses for Jig-A-Loo around the home, garden, garage and just about anywhere else. Their paperwork goes on to claim that, “It lubricates! It stops squeaks! It repels water! It fights rust and ice!” To those claims, I’m adding that, “It really works!”
The Jig-A-Loo sat on my desk for a day, haunting me while I tried to think of what I would use it on. Once I got started though, it was easy to keep going. I guess I had stopped noticing the squeaks in our doors until I really stopped to listen, and squeak they did. Every door in our house is now quiet. That includes bi-fold doors that run in those little grooves. I also sprayed the grooves for all of the windows in our house and they now open and close with ease instead of elbow grease. Everything now slides like me trying to ice skate.
In order to test the water repel theory I sprayed an old pair of shoes and then turned the water on sprinkle, and watched it ball up and roll off. Next we moved on to rusty bike chains, a porch swing that had squeaked for ages and some old rusted channel locks in the tool box. All of them now operate smoothly. You can use it to waterproof your tent and even spray your hats, gloves and jackets to make them water repellent. Spray your tools before gardening and keep them clean and rust free.
Jig-A-Loo can be used on wood, metal, leather, fabric and most plastics. It contains no oil, grease, wax or detergents, so it doesn’t stain. It didn’t even drip when I sprayed it upside down on the closet door grooves. The only thing I can say I disagree with is their claim that it doesn’t have an odor. It does when first sprayed and it’s not a good one. It evaporated quickly, but it was definitely there.
Overall, Jig-A-Loo is a welcome addition to our household. To sum it up, it works like WD-40 on steroids.
