When we bought our triple stroller we also purchased a slightly used Eddie Bauer All-Terrain double stroller. It was big and we didn’t like the idea of lugging around two strollers (although we very soon changed our minds). Shortly after we realized the triple stroller was not a viable option for everyday use, we began to really enjoy our double stroller.
One of the coolest features of this stroller, especially when my twins were really little, was the fact that the first seat flips around. When they were younger, they loved facing each other and playing with the toys we would put between them. I think it was reassuring that they could see each other as we tooled around malls, festivals and amusement parks.
We took this stroller everywhere from the time they were just a few weeks old. In fact we loved this stroller so much that when the used one we bought wore out (granted it had already been through another multiples family and we had it for two years, and used it ruthlessly) we went online and found ourselves a new one. It was exactly the same stroller with all the same features, just in the new improved version.
What we learned when putting two year olds in this new stroller, whose seats were slightly narrower and the entire stroller was smaller all over, was that they no longer loved facing each other. They were closer together in this new stroller. This made the stroller not as long and easier to drive, but it seemed to crowd them a bit. We turned the front seat around facing the right direction and all was right with the world.
This is a great, big stroller. It’s robust and designed for people who are doing more than just casual shopping. The sturdy (heavy) frame is well built and holds kids as they grow larger. Mine used theirs until they were over 2 years old. It is not meant for lightweight or casual use, but it was a great fit for my family. I give the Eddie Bauer stroller huge props.
