Wacoal Might Be Oprah’s Bra, But It’s Not Mine

Wacoal Might Be Oprah’s Bra, But It’s Not MinePicture standing in the Macy’s department store with your mother looking at purses when out of no where she says, “Let’s go try on bra’s together.” We’re close, but we’re not that close. She was talking about the Wacoal brand that she had seen Oprah list as a favorite thing.

After I got over the embarrassment, we headed to try on these wonders. When I saw the price tag I gasped! For the price of one Wacoal (around $55), I could buy a lot of Target bra’s. My mom insisted on purchasing me one and I don’t turn down free bra’s. (Actually, I don’t turn down free anything.)

I admit the material seemed fancy and that the designs looked attractive and well covering. They offered a lot of styles and I finally chose one that seemed similar to the seamless bra’s I usually wear. When I tried it on it felt scratchy and no matter how much I loosened the shoulder straps, they still dug into my shoulders. It definitely lifted and shaped my blobs into nice rounds shapes though and the underwire was supportive. The biggest plus was that it kept them pointed straight and not looking like Paris Hilton’s wonky eye!

After one wash on the gentle cycle (no dryer) there are already a few strings hanging around the stitching. Overall, I am not impressed. Oprah has more to carry around than I do, so maybe for fuller figured women this brand may be worth the money, but for myself I’d rather keep purchasing the Target versions, unless my mom wants to keep purchasing my lingerie.

I think it depends on the style. I had a Wacoal bra or two (but didn’t pay full retail) and loved it one but not the other. As far as the quality (after washing) mine didn’t have that. I’m with you tho - no need to shell out $50+ for a bra. I have a few Target ones that I love, too!

I have difficulty using the el cheapo bras. Mainly because I had a breast reduction back in 1994. Although the reduction went well, they aren’t perfect (are they ever?)so, because of their shape, sometimes a typical less expensive bra doesn’t fit well. I have tried many from both Target and Wal Mart. I try to catch sales at Victoria’s Secret; like buy one get one free or something similar. Department stores are also good; but only on sale. The most I have ever paid for a bra is $24. I refuse to pay more! :)

Great review and thanks for the information. Maybe the bra you purchased was made on a Monday or a Friday. ROFL You know what they say about cars made on those days; right?

I have such a hard time with bras. I’m a 38 D and that makes em heavy…any suggestions for a good bra let me know? Oprah’s sounds like a bust….and I’m already hurting with the ones I wear now. I have purchased Victoria Secret (body by Victoria) and it still cuts under the boob part. Oh well, things aren’t as chipper as they were years ago…after all I am 61. However, if you hear of anything better, let me know.
