Quaker Oatmeal To Go

When I was at the Publix the other day, they had a product I’d never noticed before on sale buy one get one free. QUAKER OATMEAL TO GO. I’m not a big fan of the breakfast bar as a food source. They tend to be high fat or high calories, it’s always one or the other, to make them edible. But I am a HUGE fan of Quaker Oatmeal so I paused to see what they were.

Perusing the nutrition facts on the box, it said they were only 220 calories, 4 grams of fat and had 5 (YES, 5 grams) of dietary fiber.

That in Weight Watchers land is like GOLD people. 4 points, in a breakfast bar.

Now, I wondered as I picked up my BOGO of Oatmeal bars, what did they taste like? After having tried them, let me just say, in a word – delicious.

They taste like oatmeal. If you LIKE oatmeal, they’re actually a little bit more like an oatmeal danish if that makes an sense. Or maybe a delicious oversized oatmeal cookie. Remarkably they are quite filling, which I find is usually not the case with breakfast bars (that’s the dietary fiber working!).

They get a 10 out of 10 for convenience factor as well, although in fact they are no more or less convenient than any other breakfast bar product. One package pops into the purse on my way out the door and gets eaten while I read my morning reports at my desk. You can also open one end and microwave for 10 seconds for a warmed up version on chilly days.

I’m a fan!

I love Oatmeal to Go bars, especially warmed up in the microwave. The Quaker Breakfast Cookies are good too-Nathan likes those.

As the parent of a very picky teenager I am a HUGE fan of these. My picky teenager didn’t even EAT breakfast until I brought these home, and the selection is fabulous. A little on the pricey side in my neck of the woods but she does eat them for breakfast and they are quick and nutritious. I’d rather pay a little more for something they eat than rely on eggs or cereal and throw half of it out.
