There I was, walking along in our local grocery sale when something shiny caught my eye. It was Aquafresh Extreme Clean and it was on sale.
I am not a toothpaste snob. I’m not loyal to any particular brand, really. If it tastes minty and makes my breath smell good, into the shopping cart it goes. Of course, the price has to be reasonable, too.
I had left buying toothpaste to the last minute, so I brushed my teeth almost as soon as I got home from the grocery store.
To my surprise and dismay, my mouth completely filled with foam. And I am not a person who uses gobs of toothpaste to brush her teeth. I’ve pretty much used an amount the size of a pea since I first started brushing my teeth twenty-some odd years ago. If you’ve ever seen the film, “Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure” and the scene in which he brushes his teeth, shouting, “Mad dog!” you’ll begin to see what I mean.
I looked more closely at the packaging and noticed the phrase, “with micro-active foam!” I now know exactly what this means.
The taste, however, is very good. This toothpaste has an orangey-mint flavour that I like very much, and it really does leave my mouth feeling fresh and clean for a little bit longer than the average toothpaste.
If you’re at all into package design, you’ll probably really like this product, because it has a very functional cap that twists off and also allows you to stand the shiny, silver tube on its end.
My husband recently bought another brand of toothpaste that’s more like that I’m used to, but although it took awhile to get used to, I still prefer the micro-active foaming action. As long as the price stays right, I’ll buy this brand again.
