Dell Inspiron 1501 Sleek & Easy To Navigate

Having your laptop literally blow up is like losing your best friend. For a week I’ve felt helpless, all alone in the world without my constant internet connection. Our previous Gateway notebook was a good computer that lasted through a lot of rough times so I figure it served it’s time.

Before we purchase a new one I wanted to do some research (I meaning my husband who knows more than I do about this stuff). A website we used to get opinions and information was Notebook Review. They offer a lot of statistics, including user reviews.

Our previous Gateway model had some issues overheating and would shut down as a result. It was frustrating and a little hot sitting on your lap. Not to mention after a couple months the top cracked where the lid hinged. Other than that it was a good computer and met my expectations.

Our final choice was a Dell Inspiron 1501 with an AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile Technology processor and Vista.

Personally, I don’t know much about MB’s and RAM and all that so I’ll discuss the features I like thus far. The 15.4″ display screen is bright and glossy with TrueLife (something trademarked by Dell). It’s very rich in color, which is a difference in some other models I viewed (such as Acer and HP). The built-in mouse is easy to navigate, but the scrolling feature requires a very gentle touch.

The keyboard is quieter than my older model and the exterior, although made of mainly plastic, is lighter and smoother. The two-tone microsatin white and silver looks sleek, plus the finish appears scratch resistant. (A big plus with kid’s around.)

Overall, I’m pleasantly surprised. Maybe just because it’s new. If we have any serious issues or repairs that come up I’ll let you know. For now, however, I recommend this model if you need a laptop for basic internet use, storing pictures, music files, Microsoft Office documents and programs or just to blog.
