What is with all the Mojito talk lately? I know I’ve been out of the bar hopping scene since college, but I finally had one of these drinks I’ve heard so much about last weekend. Everyone else at the party raved about the refreshing taste, but warned me that you must like minty drinks to enjoy this one.
Bacardi makes a Silver Mojito in a 12 oz. glass bottle (six packs), 12 oz. slim cans (12 packs) and 24 oz. bottles. The only thing I like mint in is gum and toothpaste, so I was hesitant to try this flavor.
Although it was refreshing and crisp given the 100 degree weather, the after-taste was too much for my tame taste buds to handle. I kept taking drink after drink, trying to give it a chance, but finally I succumbed to the fact I just didn’t like it. The mint was too strong and I couldn’t taste a hint of lime.
All I could think of was that it tasted like drinking liquid Orbit Mint Mojito gum and that just made me gag! This very well may be right up your alley, though, if you don’t share my disdain for mint.
Bacardi does make several other flavors in their Silver line (that are not Mojito) like peach and strawberry that are probably more in keeping with my tutti-frutti drink requirements. As an added bonus, they also offer several low-carb options.

I tried these when I was in Chicago for BlogHer. I didn’t really notice the mint all that much but I did notice that the malt liquor that comprises the alcohol portion would NOT give me a buzz! They’re okay if you need the convenience of a bottled beverage but personally, I prefer a real Mojito made with rum. Yum!
My husband told me it’s the power of advertising, and then we think we have to get it, and like it. Or it means there’s something wrong with us. I’m glad you stuck to your guns and said no…I don’t like it and it’s my right.
