Oral-B Triumphs Nothing

After my 5th cavity in 3 years I was up for some oral hygiene changes. I didn’t spend 2 years in braces back in high school to have my teeth rot away now. I wasn’t sure why the sudden change because I brush regularly and floss too. Up until 3 years ago I didn’t have any silver fillings invading my mouth.

After some thought and research I decided upon a fancy electric toothbrush. Oral-B provided a high-end product, The Triumph, that promised a floss-action head-brush and bristles that penetrate deep between my teeth. We’ve used the cheap $6 spinning head versions that Oral-B sells and were satisfied. This $100 model was sure to keep me cavity free at my next 6 month visit.

Another plus was the polisher that would leave my teeth pearly white and my gums healthier. All I have to do is brush for 2 minutes three times a day. Seems too good to be true.

I love the built-in technology that times your brushing, tracks the charge level and tells you when to replace the brushhead - in 13 different languages! You can even customize your brushing by choosing from one of 4 different modes.

The sleek design and the fact that it’s easily rechargeable is a big plus. My issue goes deeper that the surface looks. No matter how long I charged the Oral-B it never seemed to brush at full-charge. Almost as if the battery were dying it would begin to slow down after about 15 seconds of use.

It kept telling me to change the brushhead every week. Those things are quite pricey to be going through a pack a month! Between the slowing motor and the expensive up-keep I am not impressed.

After a month of daily use I have yet to notice whiter teeth (not that I am using it for that reason, but it did promise). I figured by spending the extra money on a known brand I would get something better than ordinary. But honestly the $6 throw-away version did as good a job as the more expensive model.
