Hearing Is Believing

A positive attitude will take you only so far in life. There is also action, fact, and proof. I have not had a pregnancy end in giving birth, so for me, maintaining that positive attitude is tricky.

I want to believe that everything will turn out fine and at the end of this ride, I will finally be a momma and bring home my very own little bundle of joy. There is still doubt, however, so my husband and I bought a Sonotrax fetal doppler.

This little contraption, which we purchased off of eBay, allows us to hear our baby’s heartbeat every night before we go to bed. Every night, I get to reaffirm my positive attitude with some factual proof.

The monitor is easy to use if all you want to do is listen. However, if you want to actually get a heart rate and use the three different modes to do so, I wish you luck.

There is an LCD screen which pretty much flashes 134 at me most of the time. It flashes 134 for my heart rate, 134 for my gurgling intestines, and 134 for the little bird’s heart rate too. I don’t know how to fix it and frankly, I don’t care right now.

Maybe in a month, I will wish for accuracy. Right now though, I am happy just hearing that “swish swish” every night.
