If you search the internet for information on bamboo flooring, you will find mixed reviews. There are those who are unhappy with their flooring, saying that it scratches easily and needs frequent refinishing. Then there are the people who love it and list the various pets they have walking on it and the various things they have dropped with no damage to the floor.
To be honest, our bamboo flooring has been installed now for five days, so this review is not about the longevity of it. Instead, I can pay tribute to the economy, beauty, and easy installation.
Morning Star bamboo flooring has a 30 year warranty and is made from plants that are at least 4 years old. The age of the plant affects the hardness of the floor. Morning Star is also presorted so you don’t have to lay out every piece to make sure it is properly randomized in its layout.
My husband and I purchased our flooring at Lumber Liquidators for $2.59 per square foot which makes it cheaper than many other hardwood flooring options. You can also feel better knowing that the bamboo flooring is more environmentally friendly with bamboo growing like a weed.
The floor looks beautiful. In less than a day, my husband and I finished a 240 square foot room, and we are ready to put it in the kitchen, dining room, and living room as well. It’s cheaper than tile, and there is no clean up after installation. You lay it down, fire the staple gun, and move on. It’s that simple.
We expect maintenance with the floor, and we expect that it will gather its fair share of nicks and scrapes. However, we have rolled a 900 pound piano all across this floor with not a scratch or mark on it. We did choose the natural finish because the process used to darken bamboo also softens it.
All in all, I think it is going to be pretty durable, and it’s really quite gorgeous, so I’m passing out a prop to Morning Star bamboo flooring and Lumber Liquidators.

Another little factoid I recently learned about bamboo flooring is that it’s a good choice for kitchens and bathrooms because water won’t warp it like it will regular wood flooring. I don’t know how accurate that is but if it’s true, I’ll be putting bamboo in my next kitchen because I really hate tile.
My parents recently added on and put in bamboo flooring. I questioned the durability of having it with 4 young grandchildren. If you’ve ever seen my son roll (or heavily push) a car across a room you’d cringe at the thought too!
It is SUPER durable and I haven’t seen a scratch on it.
