iSing Shower Radio Doesn’t Sing

Our faithful shower radio from Sharper Image finally bit the dust. I decided to try something new and found a new lime green radio from Zadro Products called iSing. It appeared to be a cooler design and more up-to-date than our previous model and a similar price of $20 seemed reasonable.

The first issue arose when my husband had difficulty opening the back case to insert batteries. The outdated straight screw had been tightened to the point of almost breaking the plastic, but I can look past that. I set the clock fairly easily and then mounted it on the shower wall with the strong suction cups provided.

I waited until the next morning to shower and give it a try. The cool look of this radio is about all it has going for it. The tuning and volume dials are too small to turn, despite the indentations along the edge of the round knobs. Especially if your fingers are wet or soapy.

Usually, I leave it set on my favorite local radio station to listen to the morning show while getting ready. So I turn the dial listening through the static for my DJ’s voice. Nothing. Keep turning, this time a little slower. Still nothing.

What the heck? This radio station is local and by local I mean about 2 miles from our house. I couldn’t get ANY radio stations and one of the few I did get was supposed to be at 106.1 FM, but according to the dial it was 101 FM. In a moment of frustration I pulled the radio from the wall, prying the suction cups off and by doing so I broke the antenna off.

At this point I was about to throw it out the bathroom window. I figured there was no way in hell I was going to get any stations now, but I was wrong. The ONLY station I now get is a state away (around 60 miles) and plays bluegrass. It didn’t take long for me to put the iSing in a junk drawer and purchase what we previously owned. You should always stick with what you know is a quality product. Design is sometimes overrated.
