Caress Exotic Oil Infusions

Soap of My Discontent

I am a self professed girly girl. I sit here, smugly declaring this wearing no make up and sporting my VOTE FOR PEDRO t-shirt. Regardless, my inner soul is girly, I swear it is. And this inner soul is constantly in search of girly products to add to my repertoire of girly grooming aids. This is explains my recent purchase of Caress Exotic Oil Infusions Ultra Rich Cream Oil Body Wash.

First of all let’s start with the bottle. It DOES look pretty cool. It’s PURPLE for goodness sakes, and we all know that women my age have a thing for purple because of Donny Osmond’s socks from back-in-the-day. (This is a whole different post, though).

Regardless of all of that, I was drawn to the bottle and the promise of a new, girly soap. I will confess that first I opened the other scent called “Japanese” first. I don’t actually remember what scent it was, but I thought it was a little too spicy - not quite me. So I opened up the purple bottle that had first caught my eye, “Moroccan”.

It smelled somewhat sweet, almost like sesame oil. It proclaimed itself to contain cassis and starflower oil. The second ingredient however, (and therefore the second most plentiful) is soybean oil. Ahhhh, the exotic soybean, well known to me from my years growing up in Indiana…but I digress.

As a soap, it’s quite functional. It cleans. It rinses off. It is not offensive. As a girly soap……it is a complete failure. I am not carried away to an exotic villa in Morocco where I am served lamb and couscous while lounging on pillows and wearing silk. I am still getting out of the shower and putting on VOTE FOR PEDRO. I smell clean, not exotic.

In addition to having a ridiculously long name, it falls short of it’s implied promise of magic and enchantment. However, I am clean, even if I’m not exotic. And that should count for something, right?
