The Dove SkinVitalizer is a handheld device that washes and/or exfoliates your face. I wouldn’t call it a brush because there are no bristles but it does use two-sided cleansing pads that attach securely to the device with a Velcro-like material on the handle.
One side of the pad is smooth for washing and the other is a bit more textured for exfoliating. The SkinVitalizer gently vibrates while you manually move it around your face. The pad, called a “cleansing pillow,” already contains a foamy soap-like cleanser that you activate with water so there’s no need to use anything else.
In the past, I have used some of the other trendy (and pricey) “facial” type exfoliation products on the market that contain a fine gritty substance that you use to exfoliate your face and while those did the trick and left my face nice and smooth and even a bit tighter, they all ended up giving me serious breakouts that made me want to wear a burka 24-7. I’m certain it’s the fine, gritty scrub that was repeatedly clogging my pores and I resolved to NEVER use anything like that again.
Enter SkinVitalizer, which has no weird gritty substances to clog my pores. It’s just cleanser and the vibrating gadget and after using it several times with no resultant breakouts, I am happy to report that I really like it. In addition to the gentle vibrations that massage your face, my skin was smooth and soft and the little patches of dry skin that I have here and there were buffed smooth. My pores were even a little tighter, though that seems to be a temporary thing.
The only downside that I can see is that I’m a person who is notoriously bad about buying refills of any kind. My house is full of things that require refills that just languish, possibly never to be used again. Why? Because I always forget or I find the refills to be prohibitively expensive (hello $30 HEPA filters). The SkinVitalizer does require that you buy new cleansing pillows (14 for about $4.50) but perhaps this will be the thing that makes me break my streak because I really do like using it.
