As a parent of a ardent dinosaur lover who is subjected to hours and hours of questions and conversation regarding dinosaurs, I knew - KNEW - we would be purchasing these Dinosaur Eggs as soon as I saw them. We picked them up at a local flea market but I’ve seen them around other novelty places in the past. The difference being, I didn’t have a 4 year old dinosaur lover with me the last time I saw them.
The concept is simple, put them in water (they come inside these egg type things) and they will hatch. It was/is remarkably cute. We put them in the water before bed and when we woke up the next morning POP there were three little heads sticking out. Which was the best way to do it, as it takes HOURS for them to start hatching and I’d have poked my eyes out listening to him beg to watch them all day if we’d have done it during the day. So it was a great treat to wake up and SEE that the little things were hatching.

They take a long time, don’t be fooled. It takes 12-24 hours for them to START to hatch and then ANOTHER 24 hours to actually hatch. Then you change the water and they GROW. It says that after 48 hours they will be fully grown but not whether that is 48 hours after first immersion, after hatching or what. We’re still growing ours.
We purchased 3 and were lucky enough to get three different dinos. It didn’t say what type of dino you get, so it was just luck. However, for less than $2 a piece, they provided loads of entertainment and once they’re fully grown they’ll be joining the rest of the family dinosaur collection. A good bargain for a little person with a passion for extinct lizards and enough patience to watch them grow.
