I Never Thought I’d Say This…

but I got mad, mad props for Babies R Us.

Yeah, you heard me. That store that i typically regard as the eighth circle of hell actually made me happy whilst separating me from my money, which is quite a trick. I mean really…how many people are mentally composing a blog post about the virtues of BRU while forking over $80?Earths best baby fod jar

If you’ll recall this post about the baby food I now regard ever so balefully, Gerber’s Tender Harvest organics, you know I’ve been looking to replace it with something that is made by a company that doesn’t use plastic containers (read this post to find out why).

While I can get Earth’s Best organic baby food in a few stores around here, it’s kind of pricey and inconvenient but at Babies R Us, they sell it in mixed cases of 12 for $7.99. That comes out to about 66¢ a jar which is what I was paying for Tender Harvest at my regular grocery store (back when they used chemical-free glass).

In a nutshell, that’s a good deal and I’m way psyched that I can pop over to the eighth circle of hell Babies R Us and buy 4 cases at a time and be set for a while. I don’t HAVE to settle for Tender Harvest anymore. So there.

FYI, Babies R Us sells a variety of organic things for baby including but not limited to Similac organic formula, which until recently has been almost impossible to get.

Thank you so much for this! I’ll be checking this week if they carry it in Canada. I make all my own because I’m “organic-anal” but would love to have a backup plan (in glass, of course!).

They even had a coupon for it in their last mailer! $2 off. I was going to buy it but the BRU near me didn’t have any stage 1 foods.

Since your post on Gerber, I have been buying Earth’s Best too. The only thing I do not like is that Mr. Cheeks likes green beans and squash, neither of which are in the 12 pack flat. So I buy beech nut, which is in little jars, but not organic. I can’t decide which is worse - superheated toxic plastic or plant growing/weed & bug killing chemicals in the Beechnut.

Anyway, the Earth’s Best cereals are awesome too. They are more dense than the organic Gerber Rice cereal. I only need half as much to make the same amount of finished product. I even saw baby’s first soup in the Earth’s Best, but we are still in stage one foods.

That was one of the few reasons why I would even step into BRU, since walking in the door would make me break out in hives. And like Mrs. F said, the coupons! Score!

No fair! They don’t send me coupons anymore.
